So why is this not a community garden?
And if the answer is so obvious, why is that significant?

Hi Mau, it's me again. In doing some research about my topic (the RAV line on Cambie St. and its effects on the neighbourhood) I keep finding information about your topic!
You might have found it already, but here is the website for the City of Vancouver Food Policy Council,
http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/commsvcs/socialplanning/initiatives/foodpolicy/policy/council.htm
One of their stated goals is to foster "2,010 community gardens by 2010". Of course the more urban gardens the better, but I find it a little amusing that even this most earthy and grassroots of community ventures can apparently be quantified as a measure of Vancouver's global competitiveness, something else to show the world when they show up for the Olympics.
Between the 2010 community gardens and the RAV line, the world had better be impressed.
